To receive recognition, plans and projects must demonstrate innovation, transfer-ability, quality, effectiveness of implementation, comprehensiveness, public participation, technology, equity, sustainability and collaboration.
Alpharetta’s award-winning plan was created through a highly collaborative approach that engaged citizens and business-owners over several months.
The document divides downtown Alpharetta into four distinct subareas and provides land use plans, design guidelines, and implementation recommendations for each. It also provides for a new zoning code and stormwater toolkit to guide and support positive development activity that promotes greater connectivity between major activity centers while fostering increased economic sustainability.
