Alpharetta Extends Construction Hours On Mayfield Road
The contractor replacing the culvert can work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, which shortens the time for the road closure.

ALPHARETTA, GA — The Alpharetta City Council on Monday took action that will allow a major thoroughfare closed due to a road project to reopen ahead of schedule. The Council at its June 11 meeting gave the go-ahead for the contractor replacing the Mayfield Road culvert to work an additional two hours each day Monday through Saturday.
The contractor will be allowed to work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., which the city said will result in Mayfield Road reopening 14 to 21 days ahead of the original target date. The new target date is July 14, the city said.
"Typically, we would not allow work to extend for a 12-hour day so close to homes because of the noise and its impacts on those who live close to the construction site," the city of Alpharetta said. "In this case, however, there was considerable support from those living within 2,500 feet of the site because the additional two hours of work time each day would result in the road opening so much sooner."
