Officers were dispatched to the Preserve at Academy on Wade Creek Road community around 9:50 a.m. April 21 in response to a 911 caller reporting a gunshot in the area.
Alpharetta police units arrived on the scene and met with the caller, who pointed towards the location where the gunshot possibly originated.

Officers secured the area, and noticed the front door to townhome 111 was open. Once they entered the home, officers discovered 21-year-old Kadarius Cortez Medlock "lying on the floor inside the residence," the agency said.
Medlock was pronounced dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
Later in the evening, while questioning two residents who knew Medlock, a police K9 alerted on the vehicle the two citizens used to drive to the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety's headquarters.
"At that point, both individuals were advised that our detectives would lawfully search their vehicle," the agency added. "One of the individuals stated to our detectives 'no you’re not'.”
Since they allegedly interfered with the detective's attempt to search the vehicle, the two residents were both arrested and charged with obstruction.
