Alpharetta Film Premiere Will Benefit Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Johns Creek resident raising funds for Team in Training.

Johns Creek resident Daniel Gennari may be fighting Hodgkin's Lymphoma, but he "is not a prisoner of his disease," says his wife, Angela.

Gennari has committed to raising $4,000 for the  Leukemia & Lymphoma's Team in Training, an organization that Mrs. Gennari says been a great support system for their family.

To help Gennari raise the money, the Studio Movie Grill in Alpharetta is premiering "The Story," a Ski Channel documentary. Gennari, an avid skier, realized this documentary was not scheduled to screen in Georgia as part of the channel's film tour, so he sent an e-mail to the company. The Ski Channel responded immediately, and agreed to screen the film with proceeds going to Gennari's fundraising efforts.

"The Studio Movie Grill stepped up and agreed to host" the documentary's Georgia premiere, said Mrs. Gennari, who said her husband is making progress in his recovery. A recent PET scan revealed that while he is not cancer-free, his tumor is shrinking and is less active.

Gennari also plans to ride 100 miles in June at Lake Tahoe as part of his Team in Training. "He's not willling to let cancer rule his life," said Mrs. Gennari.
