Alpharetta High School Evacuated Following Bomb Threat
Students and staff were moved onto the school's football field Thursday afternoon while police conducted a sweep of the facility.

ALPHARETTA, GA -- A bomb threat emailed to Alpharetta High School forced officials to evacuate the premises Thursday afternoon.
The threat propelled officials to relocate students and staff to the school's football field while Alpharetta police conducted a sweep of the building, said Fulton County Schools spokesperson Susan Hale.
The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety said on its Facebook page that the threat was sent electronically, and officers combed the building in response to the emergency.

"No threatening device was located and it appears to be a hoax threat," the agency added, noting Fulton school police will now handle the investigation.
Hale said school was dismissed from the football field at 3:30 p.m., which is the normal time.

Students proceeded home on their regular buses or cars. While the system was able to evacuate everyone safely and allow students to leave on time, there's still one problem: students and staff members still have belongings inside the school.
"We are still working out a plan for how students and staff will get their belongings," she said, adding it could be later this evening or Friday. "That will depend on when the police give the all-clear for the building to be reoccupied."
