Alpharetta Hosts September Classes For Young Artists

ALPHARETTA, GA -- Young artists can stretch their creative talents this September with programs offered by Alpharetta Recreation and Parks.

These programs will target youngsters , and will be held at the Alpharetta Arts Center at Crabapple:

Mini-Art School teaches how to transform acrylic, fabric, sand, canvas, and other materials into a piece of beautiful art. Thursday, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Six-week session for ages 6-9 starts Sept. 1.

Create with Me lets little ones discover fun in creating art together with a parent. Themed projects use mixed media, painting concepts, shape discovery, and ceramics. Tuesday, 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Four-week session for ages 2-5 starts Sept. 6.

Teen Drawing, Mixed Media, Portfolio Class is designed to assist students in building a body of work to incorporate into a portfolio, using hands-on instruction, demos and diverse media. Monday, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Multi-week session for ages 12+ starts Sept. 12.

Creative Clayworks lets young sculptors enjoy working with clay to create whimsical projects or decorative pieces. Monday, 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eight-week session for ages 6-12 starts Sept. 12.

Cartoon Class develops young cartoonist skills learning to draw exaggerated facial features, illustrate movement or sound effects, and transform ordinary objects or animals into silly animated characters. Tuesday, 4:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eight-week session for ages 6-10 starts Sept. 13.

Mom & Me Create Date offers special moments with your young Picasso, creating a keepsake art project together. For ages 6-12, at Rock Mill Park from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18.

Creative Playgrounds leads little artists to create a special piece of art each month with parent participation. For ages 3-5, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22.
