Alpharetta, Milton Election 2019: Hours, Polls, Sample Ballot
Poll hours and more information to prepare for Election Day in Alpharetta and Milton are listed below. Check back Tuesday night for results.

ALPHARETTA/MILTON, GA — Election Day is Tuesday in Alpharetta and Milton, and voters will cast their ballots in the 2019 municipal election.
The Alpharetta City Council election will take place Nov. 5. Incumbents Mayor Jim Gilvin, Post 4 Councilman John Hipes and Post 5 Councilman Jason Binder are unopposed. Incumbent Councilman Dan Merkel will face residents Clifford Martin and Abu Jalloh for Alpharetta City Council Post 6.
The Milton City Council election will take place Nov. 5. Incumbents District 1, Post 2 Councilwoman Carol Cookerly and District 3, Post 2 Councilman Rick Mohrig are unopposed. Residents Judy Burds and Paul Moore will vie for Milton City Council District 2, Post 2.

When To Vote:
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 5. If you are 75 years of age or older or have a disability and you show up at the polling place between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., you will not be required to wait in line. Such voters should tell a poll officer if he or she wants to move to the front of the line.

Check where to vote by your address online. Fulton County designates and manages the precinct boundaries and polling locations. To find out what precinct you are in as a voter or where you will vote, contact the Fulton County Board of Elections at 404-730-7020.
Acceptable Identification:
Georgia Voters are required to show one of six forms of valid photo identification when voting in person, during the absentee or advanced voting period or at the polls on Election Day. The valid forms of identification are as follows:
- A Georgia driver's license (even if expired)
- A valid State or federal government photo ID
- A valid U.S. passport
- A valid government employee photo ID (city, county, state or U.S. government)
- A valid U.S. military photo ID
- A valid Tribal photo ID

Special Election Questions in Alpharetta:
In addition to the candidates, Alpharetta residents will vote on two issues:
- Expansion of City of Alpharetta Homestead Exemption: "Shall the Act be approved which increases the homestead exemption from all City of Alpharetta ad valorem taxes for residents of the City of Alpharetta from $40,000.00 to $45,000.00?"
- Elimination of Income Cap for City of Alpharetta Senior Homestead Exemption: "Shall the Act be approved which eliminates the income restriction for the $10,000.00 homestead exemption from all City of Alpharetta ad valorem taxes for residents age 65 years and older?"
