Alpharetta, Milton Offer Christmas Tree Recycling
Both cities will participate in Bring One For The Chipper on Saturday, Jan. 2.

ALPHARETTA-MILTON, GA -- Residents in Alpharetta and Milton on Saturday will have a unique way to dispose of their Christmas trees.

Both cities will take part in the statewide 25th annual Bring One For The Chipper campaign.
The city of Alpharetta will host its event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2 at Home Depot, which is located at 5300 Windward Parkway.

Across the way in Milton, residents can also drop off their trees at Home Depot on Windward Parkway as well as the following two locations:
- Scottsdale Farms, 15639 Birmingham Highway; and
- Milton High School, 13025 Birmingham Highway.
Volunteers will offer assisted drop-off from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 2.
Residents should note that flocked trees will only be accepted at Scottsdale Farms. For those who want to remain cozy at home, Milton Boy Scout Troop 841 will pick up trees and recycle them for a donation of $15.
You can schedule a pick-up via email at treepickup841@yahoo.com. Trees collected by the city of Alpharetta will be chipped into mulch by the Davey Tree Expert Company.
Mulch is then used for public beautification projects and is available free to Alpharetta citizens. To request mulch, you can fill out the form listed here. Dogwood seedlings and Ferry Morse garden seed will also be available in exchange for your tree, while supplies last.
With more than 25 years of treecycling in Georgia, Bring one For the Chipper is the largest event of its kind in the nation. Since 1991, more than 6 million Christmas trees have been diverted from landfills and put to a greater use.
