Alpharetta, Milton Students Can Call Themselves College Graduates
Business, engineering, education, law and medical degrees were earned by the local residents.
Business, Education, Engineering Degrees Handed Out at Mercer
The following area residents graduated from Mercer University at the Mercer's Macon commencement in May. Mercer President William D. Underwood conferred degrees to the following residents at the ceremony:
- Allison Maxwell of Alpharetta earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics.
- Steven Cliff of Alpharetta earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the School of Engineering.
- Erin Abrahamson of Alpharetta earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from the Tift College of Education.
- Stephanie Canara of Alpharetta earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from the Tift College of Education.
- Kyle Eastis of Alpharetta earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics.
- Golda Vanchipurakel of Alpharetta earned a Bachelor of Science from the College of Liberal Arts.
U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss delivered the commencement address at the ceremony, which included more than 3,000 attendees, and more than 500 participants from the College of Liberal Arts, Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics, School of Engineering, Tift College of Education, Townsend School of Music and College of Continuing and Professional Studies.

Palmier, Lock Graduate from Rhode Island
At the University of Rhode Island's 126th Commencement on Saturday and Sunday, May 19-20, 2012, almost 3,000 undergraduate and 738 graduate students became the University's newest alumni.

The following local residents were among the students who received their undergraduate or graduate degrees:
- Megan E. Palmier, a resident of Alpharetta, received a PMD degree in Pharm D.
- Lindsay R. Lock, a resident of Milton, received a MS degree in Human Development and Family Studies.
Chou Earns Engineering Degree from Rice
Alvin Chou of Alpharetta, GA, graduated from Rice University on May 12.
Chou received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Khan Academy founder Salman Khan delivered the commencement address.
Columbus State Awards Crawford Music Education Degree
Carrie Crawford of Alpharetta has graduated with Honors from the College of the Arts at Columbus State University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education.
Just 100 miles southwest of Atlanta, Columbus State enrolls more than 8,300 students in nationally distinctive programs in the arts, education, business, nursing and more.
Alpharetta's Wallin Earns Law Degree from Mercer
Megan Wallin of Alpharetta, earned a Juris Doctorate from Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law, during the School's spring commencement ceremony held in Mercer's University Center.
Founded in 1873, the Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law is one of the oldest law schools in the United States and the first one in the state of Georgia accredited by the American Bar Association.
Alpharetta Students Earn Degrees from Armstrong Atlantic State
The following local students graduated from Armstrong Atlantic State University on May 5 at the Savannah Civic Center:
- Thien Phong Dang, from Alpharetta, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society
- Lisa Fenton, from Alpharetta, graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies
- Daviana Garcia, from Alpharetta, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
- Jennifer Schram, from Alpharetta, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Michael Tankovich, from Alpharetta, graduated with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy
Degrees were conferred to candidates representing Armstrong's College of Education, College of Health Professions, College of Liberal Arts and College of Science and Technology.
Damioli Earns Medical Degree from Mercer
Laura Damioli of Alpharetta earned a Doctor of Medicine from Mercer University's School of Medicine during the School's commencement this spring in Macon. Mercer President William D. Underwood conferred the degree.
In all, the University held five ceremonies in May in Savannah, Macon and Atlanta and conferred more than 1,700 bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees.
Cooper, George Graduate from Washington and Lee
Washington and Lee University awarded degrees to 401 graduates in commencement exercises on May 24 on the University's historic Front Campus. The following students were among the degree recipients:
- Amber Janay Cooper of Alpharetta.
- Elizabeth Jean George of Alpharetta.
Washington and Lee University, the nation's ninth oldest institution of higher education, is among the nation's premier liberal arts colleges and universities.
