Alpharetta Offers Christmas Tree Recycling For Residents

ALPHARETTA, GA — The city of Alpharetta, its Natural Resources Commission, Keep Georgia Beautiful and other partners invite you to recycle your old Christmas tree after the holidays during the 27th Annual Bring One for the Chipper initiative.

Alpharetta residents can drop off their trees for recycling from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6 at The Home Depot at 5300 Windward Parkway. Trees will be chipped into mulch by the Davey Tree Expert Company, and this product will be used for public beautification projects. It will also be available for free to Alpharetta citizens.

To request mulch, please fill out the request form on the city's website. Ferry Morse Seed Company has provided garden seed that will be available in exchange for your tree, while supplies last.

Bring One for the Chipper is part of a statewide effort to reuse Christmas trees. Keep Georgia Beautiful and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs have joined with corporate sponsors: The Home Depot, 11 Alive and the Davey Tree Expert Company to sponsor this recycling program. Our local sponsors are the Windward Parkway Home Depot, The Alpharetta Rotary Club and the Alpharetta Young Men’s Service League.

Information for all drop-off areas is available by zip code on the initiatives' website. Since 1991 Bring One for the Chipper has collected more than six million trees and provided over one million tree seedlings to participants. More than 250,000 trees were recycled last year during the program, the state says produces tangible environmental benefits.
