Alpharetta Offers Free Class on Growing, Planting Perennials

The class will be held April 22 at the city's Department of Public Works.

Budding gardeners throughout Alpharetta can take advantage of a free class the city will offer on planting and growing perennials next week.

The class will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 22 at the Alpharetta Department of Public Works, which is located at 1790 Hembree Road.

Seating is limited, so pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

During the program master gardeners will provide instruction on bringing year-after-year color and form to your home landscape with perennial plants. To help your perennials prosper for years to come, tips and techniques will be presented on:

· Weed control

· Soil preparation

· Planting perennials

· Dividing plants

· Mulching

· Fertilizing

· Watering

· Selecting easily grown varieties

“Establishing and Growing Perennials” is the fourth class in the city’s gardening series. The series is provided in partnership with the Alpharetta Natural Resources Commission, the UGA Cooperative Extension Service, and the North Fulton Master Gardeners.
