Alpharetta Rotary Club Donates To Meals On Wheels
The club's $1,500 contribution will help fight hunger among seniors in North Fulton County.
ALPHARETTA, GA -- The Rotary Club of Alpharetta is continuing its tradition of giving back to various less fortunate residents in the community.
This time, the organization on May 19 presented Senior Services North Fulton with a $1,500 check to be used towards its Meals on Wheels and Meals on Wheels for Pets programs.
Heather Terry was on hand to accept the check on behalf of Senior Services North Fulton, and said the organization was thankful for the club's generous donation. Last year, Senior Services North Fulton delivered more than 32,000 meals to seniors and served more than 19,000 hot lunches at local senior centers.

"Still, we are not reaching everyone who needs us," Terry added. "This donation will help us grow our meals program, and bring us closer to our goal of ending senior hunger in North Fulton.”
The $1,500 included a $750 contribution from Rotarian Jack Hausmann and a match of $750 from the club. Meals on Wheels and Meals on Wheels for Pets are operated by Senior Services North Fulton and serve the cities of Alpahretta, Johns Creek, Milton, Mountain Park, Roswell and Sandy Springs.

Meals on Wheels America is a national program that Senior Services North Fulton brought to the area because they saw a need for their services. Meals on Wheels America is composed of more than 5,000 independently-run local programs and helps nearly 2.4 million seniors annually. While each location operates individually, the shared goal is to provide a nutritious meal to the homes of older adults who have difficulty grocery shopping or preparing meals themselves.
Meals on Wheels for Pets follows a similar concept, supplying seniors with food, treats and litter for their furry companions.
“As Rotarians we pride ourselves on living out our motto, 'Service Above Self'," said Rotary Club of Alpharetta President Jason Binder. "We are very proud to support Senior Services North Fulton in their mission to provide meals to the growing population of older adults in need.”
For more than 25 years, Senior Services North Fulton has been striving for a community where all older adults over 60 are revered, cared for, and supported to live meaningful and productive lives. For more information, visit the organization's website.
