Alpharetta Student Wins $500 In Video Contest

Eric Traugotta, a 10th grade videographer won $500 in the World of 7 Billion international student contest for his video production skills.

From World of 7 Billion: Eric Traugott received the second place prize of $500 for his video on rapid urbanization. The 10th grade student submitted his video to the “World of 7 Billion” international student video contest sponsored by Population Connection.

Eric learned about the video competition from his A/V teacher. A part time videographer, he wanted to put his video production skills and his new drone to use on a more personal project. His video, 7 Billion, highlights how construction and development continue to encroach upon forests and other natural habitats.

As a resident of Alpharetta, Georgia, Eric has seen firsthand the effects of rapid urban development. He tells us, “I’ve lived in Georgia my whole life and saw a whole city go up around me because of so many people living there. A whole forest was demolished.”
