Alpharetta Students To Play In McDonald's All-American Games

St. Francis student athletes Maya Dodson and Kasiyahna Kushkituah are members of the 2017 girls team's roster.

ALPHARETTA, GA -- Two students at St. Francis High School in Alpharetta have been named to the 2017 McDonald's All American Games roster.

Maya Dodson, a 17-year-old senior at St. Francis High School, will take part in the March 29 games at the United Center in Chicago. She will be accompanied by fellow St. Francis student Kasiyahna Kushkituah as a member of the 2017 girls team.

Dodson, who has committed to play for Stanford University, said she's "blessed" to have the opportunity to play for the team with other top talent in the country.

"I hope to continue to grow as a player, learn from other athletes and make new memories that will last a lifetime," she added.

Dodson is a forward while while Kushkituah, who has committed to play for the University of Tennessee, is a center on St. Francis' girls basketball team.

Once enrolled at Stanford, Dodson said she plans to study either mechanical engineering or computer science. She also noted she hopes to excel in her post-secondary collegiate career and play basketball overseas or for the WNBA. She also told Patch she has dreams to run her own business.

The McDonald's All-American games' girls team will take the court at 4 p.m. local time March 29 (5 p.m. in Alpharetta) and will be broadcast on ESPNU. Tip off for the boys team starts at 6 p.m. local time on ESPN.
