Alpharetta Tree Lighting Ceremony Set For Saturday
This weekend's festivities will also require Alpharetta to close certain streets in the downtown area.

Alpharetta residents looking for a family-friendly event commemorating the start of the holiday season may want to check out the city’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

The city festivities will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5 in the historic downtown District. Saturday’s event will start at 5 p.m. with holiday performances on the community stage.
Set to perform on Saturday are Northpoint Community Church, Dance Now, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, City of Alpharetta Rhythm n’ Shoes Dance Program, Alpharetta Community Chorus, Alpharetta Christian Academy, Alpharetta High School and Kings Ridge Christian School.

Mayor David Belle Isle and his family will host a read-along of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas and the tree lighting ceremony will get underway at 7 p.m.
Other activities include a visit with Santa Claus, snow playground and marshmallow roasting on Old Roswell Street, food trucks, shop with merchants of the Alpharetta Christmas Farmers Market, free children’s crafts, face painting, balloon twisting and much more.
As expected, Alpharetta officials will have to close certain roads to accommodate Saturday’s lineup of events. Here’s what you can expect:
Closed 5 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 through 4 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 6:
- Milton Avenue from S.R. 9 to Roswell/Canton Street
- Old Roswell Street from Roswell Street to Milton Avenue
- Old Canton Street from Milton Avenue to Canton Street
Closed from 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 to midnight:
- Academy Street from Haynes Bridge Road to S.R. 9/Main Street
Residents can park at the Milton Center (86 School Drive) or the Alpharetta City Hall parking deck. The event’s location will be held across from City Hall at 2 Park Plaza.
