A public input meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7 at Alpharetta City Hall.

The intent of the proposed Art In Public Places Program is “to direct the inclusion of works of art in city construction projects and to guide the investment in and placement by the city of works of art in order to expand the experiences of the citizens of Alpharetta with art, and enable them to better connect with the community and understand the lives and experiences of themselves and fellow citizens,” the city said.

During the public input meeting, Alpharetta officials will discuss the program and its proposed guidelines that will establish a process to select, purchase, commission, place and maintain works of art.

Also up for discussion and input will be the first project that would be proposed under the Art In Public Places Program.

Currently titled “Instruments of Inspiration,” the project would involve the creation and placement in selected downtown Alpharetta locations of original sculptures of musical instruments or an artist’s interpretation of music or a musical instrument.
