Animals at Large in Milton Cause Neighbors Grief

The following information was supplied by the Milton police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Pets are running loose in Milton, it seems, biting neighbors and roommates in spite of leash laws. But it's not just dogs on the loose. Horses are even leaving their own property.

Glenover Drive Runner Bit

On June 19 a dog that seemed friendly to officers investigating wasn't so nice to a neighbor out for a morning run. The Glenover Lane woman reported to Milton police that the dog bit her left ankle, causing her to go to the hospital. The woman said neighbors had complained about the dog before, but until then it hadn't bit anyone.

The dog's owner admitted the dog bit the woman. He said he was getting work done on the invisible electric fence and other means to secure his dog. He was cited for vicious dog.

Also on June 19, a Holly Road woman reported finding six horses on her property for the second day in a row. Another neighbor said he found the horses loose and had put them on his property a day earlier before they were retrieved. The horse's owner was found, and after he secured the horses on his own property Milton police cited him for animals at large.

Dog Makes Verbal Argument Physical

On June 18 a roommate upset that he still didn't have a key after months of paying rent decided to move out. When an argument about finances got very heated, the leaseholder's dog took a nip at him. Unsure of what to do, he called police, but declined to press any charges.

Craigslist Purchase Interrupted by Loose Dog

On June 17 a Grayson woman was walking up a Colonial Lane home's driveway with her child to purchase an item found on Craigslist when a Labrador retriever from across the street ran over to them. She picked up her child, and the dog began to jump on her, biting at her hand when she tried to ward it off. When she turned around to protect her child, the dog scratched her leg.

Seeing a man across the street, she yelled at him to get his dog off her. The man started calling for the dog, which went back to him.

When Milton police arrived, the man admitted it was his dog and that the batteries for his dog's collar for the invisible fence had run down, allowing it to leave the property. He was cited for animal at large. The Grayson woman was checked for injuries by an ambulance crew, who determined her wounds just needed to be cleaned.
