Appreciating the Little Things in Life.

A little over a year ago, my son figured out how to destroy my TV with the Wii remote. He had little to no remorse at the time....he actually was laughing. Laughing. I know. Anyway....right then and there, I decided not to replace it until he started to understand and appreciate the value of things. So, for the past year, we've been watching a TV the size of a shoebox. Well, I came home today with a "big" flat screen. I have never seen my son so appreciative and excited about something in his life. He has literally thanked me a million times. But, after all of the excitement and hype faded away...he turned to me with a sad look on his face and said..."I kind of miss our little TV. It was the best TV I have ever had or ever seen."

The moral of this story is that, as one of my favorite quotes by Robert Brault goes...."Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things."

This quote relates to everything in life. Even real estate. For instance, that first home. For me, it was a little A-Frame on an acre of land over in Hickory Flat. It was the size of a treehouse, but, to me at the time, it was everything. My real first little home. The greatest thing that I had ever owned.

I will never forget my first. Home, of course! Now, after buying and selling over three homes of my home, this little A-frame will always be close to my heart.
