Armed Man Attempts Robbery at Von Maur

A Von Maur employee got quite a scare when a man came into the store before opening hours and pointed a gun at her.

The employee said she arrived at the store at 6:30 a.m. on March 27, walking through the employee door near the loading docks. It took a personal code to open the employee door, and she said she's sure she closed it behind her.

A minute or two later a heavyset man who was wearing a dark hoodie and pants, with a camouflage mask covering his face entered the store. According to the incident report, the suspect pointed a black, semi-automatic handgun at her and asked, "Do you have the keys to the safe room and the code to the safe?"

After a few questions of her own, she told the suspect she had keys to the safe room, but did no have codes to the safe. She said the man put the handgun in his front waistband and walked to the employee exit.

As the realization that she'd had a gun pointed at her, the store employee headed in the opposite direction to the safe room, locking herself in and calling police.
