Avalon Seeks Gifts To Donate To The Drake House

ALPHARETTA, GA -- Alpharetta-based Avalon is teaming up with Northside Hospital for a special giveback benefiting The Drake House.

The mixed-use community is asking guests to show their support for the north Fulton-based charity by bringing gifts that will be donated to the organization.

“What a great opportunity for The Drake House to partner with both Avalon and Northside Hospital,” said Holly York, director of development at The Drake House. “With the support of Avalon and Northside Hospital in addition to the generosity of the Alpharetta community, we can help more homeless mothers and children this holiday season.”

The Drake House provides short-term crisis housing, education and empowerment programs to homeless, single mothers and their children in north metro Atlanta. Serving about 50 families each year, the organization provides housing, food pantry, laundry facilities, clothing and general necessities for the clients they serve.

The gift giveback began on Monday, Nov. 21. Gifts can be dropped off at Avalon’s Concierge in exchange for a $3 discount on Avalon on Ice tickets for that day. Throughout the holidays, Avalon will provide guests several other opportunities to give back to The Drake House during festive events.

• Avalon on Ice: Families of The Drake House will join guests for a skate night at Avalon on Ice on Dec. 28 to benefit the organization by donating a percentage of sales.
• Throughout the holidays, donate a gift to The Drake House and receive $3 off a ticket to Avalon on Ice to be used same day.
• Santa House: Guests will have the option to give back by donating to The Drake House at Avalon’s high-tech Santa House experience throughout the season.

“Through Avalon's giveback initiative, we can give extra support and comfort during this holiday season to the mothers and their children at The Drake House,” said Freda Hardage, Northside Hospital Foundation director. “It’s a wonderful program and we are excited to be working with both of these great community partners and bringing some holiday cheer to Avalon and North Fulton.”

For the giveback, toys, books, games, craft supplies, clothing, and household items are greatly appreciated. Additionally, all of Avalon’s fountain change collected during the month of December will be donated to The Drake House.
