Belle Isle Gains Endorsement From Bob Barr
Former Alpharetta Mayor David Belle Isle, who is running for Secretary of State, has been endorsed by former Ga. Congressman Bob Barr.

ALPHARETTA, GA — A well-known public figure around the state of Georgia is backing former Alpharetta Mayor David Belle Isle in his bid to become the next Secretary of State.
Former Congressman Bob Barr has endorsed Belle Isle, the Republican candidate said on Tuesday. Barr served Georgia's 7th Congressional District from 1995 to 2003, and was appointed to the U.S. Attorney posts by President Ronald Reagan.
Barr announced his support "because of Belle Isle’s unique qualifications to lead Georgia through the Secretary of State’s office," Belle Isle's campaign said.

"Mayor Belle Isle is a rising star and one of the most effective leaders I have met," said Congressman Barr. "His executive leadership and proven ability to create a climate for job growth is what sets him apart from the field of candidates. I believe he is the right man to secure Georgia’s elections and take on the Democrats in November.”
In 1994 Barr was elected to Congress and was a major voice in the Republican Revolution, which led to the GOP gaining control of the U.S. House and Senate. He has been a local and national leader on a wide variety of important issues. In 2013, Barr launched a bid for the 11th Congressional District seat when former Congressman Phil Gingrey resigned to run for the U.S. Senate. He lost that bid in the Republican primary to incumbent Rep. Barry Loudermilk of Bartow County.

"I am honored to receive this important endorsement," Belle Isle added. "I have known Congressman Barr for years and admire what he has been able to get done for the people of his district and for Georgia. He’s a true statesman and his leadership played a very large role in turning Georgia into a Republican state."
Belle Isle also reported he raised about $109,000 during the last two-month campaign contribution period. According to his campaign, Belle Isle has raised nearly $460,000 in contributions, "putting him at a $100,000 advantage over the closest of his three opponents."
