Bentley To Run For Milton City Council
Laura Bentley is running for the District 2, Post 1 seat, which is held by incumbent Bill Lusk.

MILTON, GA -- A Milton resident wants to enter public office as a way to help restore the collective voice to city residents. Laura Bentley has declared her candidacy to run for the District 2, Post 1 seat.
If elected, Bentley said her key issue will be ensuring Milton's rural character and equestrian lifestyle are both protected for future generations to enjoy.
“Milton is a special place where my family and I have lived for 11 years, but the decisions we are seeing lately simply don’t align with the values of Milton residents," Bentley said. "It’s time for a new direction.”

“We must also ensure smart growth, which enhances our community, serves our citizens and compliments our small town character,” Bentley added. “Milton has a sense of community unlike any other city in North Fulton. We must stop rezoning to higher density in order to protect our quality of life."
She also said she wants to "shift power back to the citizens of Milton." In order for government to work effectively, there must be representatives who place a greater value on public input and involvement, she contends.
“The community is at the center of all good decisions,” she added. “I am excited about the opportunity to restore Milton’s rural character in a way that supports the right growth and the future of our unique city."
Bentley is a farm owner and employed by Senior Services North Fulton at the Milton Senior Center. She graduated from Appalachian State University and also has a master's degree in business administration from Mercer University. She retired from Lucent Technologies where she was a sales manager. Bentley was a member of the Cambridge High School Governance Council and the Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council. She currently serves as the chairperson for the newly appointed Milton Equestrian Committee.
