Blessed Trinity Habitat for Humanity Receives Grant to Engage Youth Volunteers
State Farm gives the Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity at Blessed Trinity a matching grant.

Blessed Trinity’s Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter was selected to receive a $3,000 matching grant from State Farm, the national corporate sponsor of Habitat’s youth programs, to engage youth ages 5 to 15 in their work.
“We are grateful to have been selected as one of the matching grant recipients,” said Ed Morzen, faculty adviser at Blessed Habitat. “The grant will help us to share with youth at an early age the vast need for affordable housing in our community and around the world.”
Blessed Trinity Habitat will use the grant to engage younger people in the mission of Habitat for Humanity. Students put together bookshelves and held a book drive for members of local Habitat families. Younger students were also educated about the mission of Habitat for Humanity and the issue of affordable housing. The funds will benefit Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia, where the money will be used to fund the building of houses for local families.

“State Farm is committed to building safer, stronger and better educated communities,” said Kellie Clapper, assistant vice president Philanthropy and Human Resources at State Farm. “We are proud to present this award to Blessed Trinity Habitat.”
Across the country, State Farm is providing more than 30 grants to engage youth in Habitat’s work. The grant requires each group to raise a matching amount. Students raised money through bake sales, letter writing campaigns, and more.

About Habitat for Humanity - North Central Georgia
Habitat for Humanity - North Central Georgia is a non-profit, Christian housing ministry that builds simple, decent homes for purchase by low- to moderate-income families who demonstrate a capacity for responsible homeownership. Since its inception in 1995, Habitat-NCG has completed 291 homes, serving over 1,075 family members in North Fulton, Cherokee and Forsyth/Dawson counties. Each family is required to attend six educational classes and perform 200-300 sweat equity hours. Families earn between 30% and 60% of the Atlanta area median income and purchase their homes from Habitat which provides them with a 30-year, no-interest loan. Family members work side by side with the volunteers, sponsors, and Habitat staff to build their homes. These families not only get to experience the pride of homeownership but they also know that their lives will be changed forever. In addition to new home construction, Habitat North Central Georgia started a home repair program in 2014. To date, 29 repair projects have been completed serving veterans and seniors.
