Body of Alpharetta Man, 31, Found in North Carolina River

The body of Andrew Sprinkle, 31, was found underneath a tree Friday afternoon in the French Broad River.

North Carolina authorities have recovered the body of an Alpharetta man who was reported missing earlier this week by his mother.

The body of Andrew Sprinkle, 31, was discovered Friday, Nov. 21 underneath a tree in the French Broad River, according to the Hendersonville Times-News.

Sprinkle had been staying at his family’s second home last weekend in Connestee Falls. His truck was found last Saturday resting on its passenger side, “wrecked, abandoned and partially submerged in the river” along U.S. Highway 276, the newspaper reported.

A passerby who stopped to move debris from the road noticed the wreckage and called 911. The vehicle’s door was open and officials believe Sprinkle got out of the truck after the accident. However, a search of the area did not yield any clues on Sprinkle’s whereabouts, Hendersonville Times reports.

The search resumed on Monday, Nov. 17 after the Sprinkle’s mother reported him missing to the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office when he did not show up for work.

The search continued throughout the week until crews recovered the man’s body about a half-mile downstream from the scene of the wreckage, according to the newspaper.
