I recently spoke with one of Boston's lead guitarist Gary Pihl. Boston is one of the greatest rock bands in our history. The band has sold more than 31 million albums in the US. The band's first album, Boston, has gone Platinum 17 times, which is enormous. They have four Platinum albums and continue to sell out concerts worldwide. Boston's sixth album, Life, Love & Hope was released in 2013.
I found out how Boston develops their shows, what guitars and amplifiers Gary uses, and how he stays fit during a grueling tour schedule that includes 70 shows in five months finishing in Tokyo, Japan.
The band's goal is to provide the best possible experience for everyone. When designing the set list the song's energy is considered. In other words, while Boston is performing they bring the energy up, bring the energy down and bring it back up again. It is important to the band how each song effects their fans.

With a schedule that would make a young man weep, I asked Gary how he stays in shape. His response, "Eat right and run 15 miles a week". By doing so, he still weights the same as he did in high school.
My next question addressed what instruments and amplification Gary uses on stage. His response, "Steinberger". The necks are made of carbon graphite. Why is this important? Biggest reason, when you are touring you go from South Florida (massive humidity) to venues with no humidity. The neck doesn't change. Wow! And now, all you Les Paul enthusiasts don't get bummed. Remember that Tom Scholz's best music was created on his Mighty Mouse Les Paul! What amps are you using? Custom made Rockmans developed by fellow band member Tom Scholz. Damn Right!

This band is awesome. If you have not seen them, you are missing out. Bring your kids. They won't forget it!
When I'm tired and thinking cold, I hide in my music, forget the day and dream of a girl I used to know. I close my eyes and she slipped away. She slipped away.
