Boutique Hotel Proposed For Downtown Alpharetta

If approved, the 120-key Cotton House Hotel would be constructed on Milton Avenue at Old Canton Street.

ALPHARETTA, GA -- The city of Alpharetta has received plans that, if approved, would bring a boutique hotel to Milton Avenue in downtown. According to plans submitted by Mayfair Street Partners, The Cotton House Hotel would be situated on about .9 acres on the north side of Milton Avenue at Old Canton Street.

Plans also call for rezoning the property from C-2 to DT-C, as well as obtaining a conditional use permit to operate a hotel on the site and variance requests to deviate from the maximum 60 feet to a proposed height of 67 feet (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. The 120-key, 5-story Cotton House Hotel would also contain about 4,000 square feet of retail/spa space and restaurant space measuring 13,500 square feet. The total project would be about 43,089 square feet.

Jason Joseph, a partner with Mayfair Street Partners, said the boutique hotel in downtown Alpharetta would go hand-in-hand with what Alpharetta is working to accomplish with its City Center project.

Of course, the elephant in the room is The Hotel At Avalon's planned 330-key development gearing up to open in January. While they are certainly riding the wave of benefits stemming from North American Properties' investment on Old Milton Parkway, Joseph said that venture "serves a particular need in the Alpharetta community." The downtown project, he added, would attract a scaled down, eclectic clientele from the surrounding area.
