BOYS

Milton was in the title hunt until the last few events but kept it close trying to defend its title from 2015. Roswell (1st-117 pts) outpaced the Eagles (2nd-91.5 pts). Senior Jack Bluth won his first county titles to lead Milton. Bluth (1st-4:25.71) controlled the 1600m from the start and led his teammate, senior Matt McGorrey (2nd-4:27.02) to a big personal best and runner-up finish for the Eagles. In the 3200m, Bluth (1st-9:46.46) used a strong second mile of the race to win comfortably in a personal best & the 8th fastest time in school history. As in the 1600m, a Milton teammate followed Bluth to the finish with sophomore Sam Bowers (2nd-9:47.87) taking runner-up honors in the 9th best time in school history. Another big win came in the boys 800m with junior Michael McCarthy (1st-1:57.91) repeating as county champion by close to 2 seconds! Many scorers kept the Eagles in the team race for the title. A third place effort by the 4x800m relay team (3rd-8:22.08) of senior Clay Marshall, sophomore Michael Malkowski, senior Jacques Du Plessis & junior Jake Vernon concluded Milton’s top-3 scoring efforts.
