Computer Science Discovery Program June 28th Session

Free Hands-On Coding and Computer Exploration for Middle Schoolers

Hello everyone! My name is Brian and I’m a senior at a local high school who loves computer science. To give back to the community I grew up in, I’m running free in-person discovery sessions for middle school students who want to explore how computers and technology actually work.

These sessions focus on making concepts like coding and beyond fun, creative, and easy to understand through interactive group activities, simple projects, and physical simulations. Whether students already have some experience or are completely new, everyone is welcome.

Every session is completely standalone, so students can jump in any Sunday without worrying about falling behind. Each week covers a new topic that stands on its own. We focus on hands-on activities instead of lectures so students can discover the exciting parts of the field themselves.

Sessions are already running every Sunday, and the students and I have been having a great time. Beginners are 100% welcome. No experience is needed. Students should bring a laptop, as we have very few extra. Parents are welcome to stay or drop off.

The goal is to help students:

• Learn problem-solving and logical thinking skills
• Explore topics in a fun and supportive environment
• Build confidence with technology
• Meet other students with similar interests.

• Completely free to attend, drop in any session!
• When: Every Sunday, 10:00am - 12:00pm
• Where: The Dojo Karate Centers, 5075 Abbotts Bridge Rd, Johns Creek, GA 30005
• Designed for curious 7th-9th graders
• Parents are welcome to stay during the sessions
• Adults will be present at the venue
