Alpharetta Community Comes Together for Blessing Basket Event to Help Local Families This Thanksgiving

ALPHARETTA, GA — This Thanksgiving season, the Alpharetta community is invited to turn gratitude into action by helping provide Thanksgiving meals for local families through the Blessing Basket Event, taking place Tuesday, November 10, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at Sid’s Pizza & Wings, 11770 Haynes Bridge Road, Suite 301, Alpharetta, GA 30009.

Organized by The Mary Ellen Vanaken Team of Keller Williams Realty North Atlanta, in partnership with local school counselors and community supporters, the Blessing Basket initiative helps families in need enjoy a Thanksgiving meal together.

Community members are encouraged to participate by registering to provide a Blessing Basket filled with Thanksgiving essentials.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors in Alpharetta

Thanksgiving is a time for gathering around the table, but rising grocery and household costs can make preparing a traditional holiday meal difficult for families facing financial challenges.

The Blessing Basket Event gives Alpharetta and North Atlanta residents an opportunity to make a meaningful difference close to home. Local school counselors are helping identify families who could benefit from additional support this Thanksgiving.

“This event is about neighbors taking care of neighbors,” said Mary Ellen Vanaken, CEO and Founder of The Mary Ellen Vanaken Team. “A Blessing Basket may seem like a simple gesture, but for the family receiving it, it means being able to gather around the table and celebrate Thanksgiving knowing their community cares about them.”

What Is a Blessing Basket?

Participants can fill a basket with traditional Thanksgiving meal essentials such as stuffing, mashed potatoes, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, gravy, cornbread or dinner roll mix, dessert items and other non-perishable holiday favorites.

A Kroger gift card can also be included to help the receiving family purchase a turkey, fresh produce or other perishable ingredients.

Individuals, families, neighborhoods, local businesses, offices and community organizations are all encouraged to participate. Families can even make creating a Blessing Basket part of their own Thanksgiving tradition.
