Cambridge, Alpharetta, Milton Make Prestigious Lists of Top High Schools

Fulton County was well represented on U.S. News' Best High Schools list and the Washington Post's Most Challenging High Schools in Georgia.

ALPHARETTA-MILTON, GA -- This month, two prestigious national publications released their annual rankings of American high schools offering the most rigorous programs and academic challenge to students.

U.S. News & World Report released its “Best High Schools” list and soon after the Washington Post released the “America’s Most Challenging High Schools” list.

Fulton County Schools was well represented with seven schools in the top 20 of the Best High Schools in Georgia and with 11 Fulton schools making the list of Georgia’s Most Challenging High Schools, the school system said.

Based on the rankings from both organizations, Fulton County led the state of Georgia with the most high schools ranked in the top 25 on both lists.

The US News & World Report uses a four-step process that considers math and reading performance on state proficiency tests, graduation rates, and the degree to which schools prepare students for college-level work.

The Washington Post takes the total number of Advanced Placement and/or International Baccalaureate tests given at a school each year and divides it by the number of seniors who graduated in May.
