MILTON, GA — Canine Assistants in Milton received a donation recently, simply from the generosity of others.

From April to June, 14 VCA Animal Hospitals in Georgia and Tennessee collected donations by encouraging clients to round up their transaction amounts to the nearest dollar or donate online, enter raffles, get one of the famous-VCA Woof or Meow hats, or give whatever was comfortable.

The local campaign raised $14,645 for Canine Assistants, a non-profit service dog program based in Milton. The donation will enable them to provide care to at least 15 Canine Assistants recipients for after-care needs.

“Whatever the dogs need such as food, vaccinations, surgery, for the life of the dog is provided by Canine Assistants if the families cannot afford it. It’s a growing need,” says Jennifer Arnold, Founder and Executive Director of Canine Assistants. “It grows every graduation.”

“We are thankful for the generosity of VCA’s clients across the country who have demonstrated their generosity by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar and helping us achieve our ambitious fundraising goal during this year’s successful campaign,” said Ryne Meadors, VCA Charities director. “Donated small change resulted in raising more than half a million dollars that will directly benefit community-based animal welfare organizations. This donation is part of the $570,000 raised across the country through our Pennies for Pets campaign.”
