On Sunday, October 3 a motorist struck a fire hydrant along Henderson Parkway resulting in a major break of the underlying main water line. This resulted in a major section of the roadbed being washed out.
Based upon current evaluations and the inability of the necessary roadwork to be performed in rainy conditions, it is estimated that two to three weeks will elapse before repairs can be completed. Weather will play a significant role in the duration of this road closure, as some of the necessary work cannot be performed in wet conditions and the soil underlying the roadbed cannot be properly compacted when wet. Thus, it will be necessary for there to be a few consecutive days of dry conditions in order for the roadbed to be compacted and the aggregate and asphalt to be laid.
