The March 25 meeting will start at 6 p.m. in City Hall’s Council Chambers. Seats there have been spaced out to allow for social distancing, leaving limited space for the public to attend. People can, however, follow the proceedings a few steps away at Community Place (in the City Hall complex) – from which they can share their views, in person, during the “public comment” portion of the meeting.

Another option is to participate over Zoom, using this link: https://zoom.us/j/98799979340. The meeting will also be streamed live on the City’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/thecityofmiltonga/.

This committee, better known as CPAC, consists of a select group of volunteer citizen leaders who have been charged with looking at – and providing direction on – major issues that will be addressed in Milton’s 2040 Comprehensive Plan. This document will guide officials and City staff by laying out priorities, policies and prospective projects to help define Milton over the next few decades.

At Thursday’s meeting, City staff and outside experts will relate what came out of the two “Community Education Sessions” on transportation, mobility, sustainability, and “Smart Cities” technology. This will include relaying what community members said, in live polls and comments, on these topics.

CPAC members themselves will then get to weigh in on “Transportation” and “Smart Cities,” they will talk about what can be done to ensure transportation safety. This includes discussion on pedestrian and bicyclist safety. Members will also explore pedestrian and roadway safety options. Smart Cities options will be discussed, from interactive technologies, as well as broadband and cellular advancements.

The “Sustainability” component, meanwhile, will feature CPAC diving into waste management, recycling and other green programs in Milton. Members will focus, too, on ways to preserve Milton’s unique rural character through policy discussions on greenspace, zoning and rural viewshed.
