The August 18 meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in Community Place, the small building next to City Hall.
Fireworks will be the first order of business, starting with a debrief of communications and other efforts to spread the word about Milton’s fireworks policies as well as how they can negatively affect horses, dogs and other pets, as well as military veterans. More information in this regard can be found at www.cityofmiltonga.us/fireworks.

This will be followed by a discussion of enforcing the City’s fireworks laws. A Milton Police captain is expected to be on hand Wednesday to answer questions regarding possible citations and more.
Another priority for the Milton Equestrian Committee (MEC) is exploring ways to preserve Milton horse farms, a challenge given the city’s desirability and rising real estate prices. On Wednesday, members will touch on tax incentive possibilities to help Milton move toward this goal.
After an update on Birmingham Park, the Committee will dive into ongoing public outreach efforts aimed at fostering a strong, purposeful, and inclusive equestrian community.
MEC, for example, plans to have a presence at Crabapple Fest – the popular event scheduled for October 2 in Milton’s downtown that traditionally draws tens of thousands of attendees. Committee members have also produced equestrian-themed stories in partnership with the Milton Herald, with one having published and several more in the works. The idea is to grow awareness about the many benefits the equestrian lifestyle has to people both directly and indirectly throughout the community.
After Wednesday’s meeting, the Equestrian Committee is next scheduled to convene the evening of September 15.
