The Milton Equestrian Committee returns to action Wednesday night to continue their discussions on how best to promote and grow the local equestrian community.

The September 15 meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in Community Place, the small building next to City Hall at 2006 Heritage Walk. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

Committee members will dive into the issue of farm ownership. Multiple City plans have delved into the importance of Milton’s rural and equestrian heritage and, to that point, taking steps to encourage farm ownership.

This will be followed by a discussion of Birmingham Park, a 200-acre City property in northwest Milton. While many horse owners already enjoy riding in Birmingham Park, the Equestrian Committee has been involved with the City in making the facility even better and safer for all involved. The hope is at least some such changes (including revamping the parking lot to make it easier for horse trailers to navigate) could begin in the coming months.

Next up is another priority for the Milton Equestrian Committee: spreading the word about people and places in – and benefits of being part of – the local equestrian community.

The Equestrian Committee has already debuted monthly stories on the Milton Herald website, while also increasing its presence on the City’s Facebook page. On Wednesday, MEC members will discuss two new ventures:
