The city has evolved from a relatively bare-bones operation working out of nondescript rented office suites to become a service-focused, innovative, citizen-driven government based in fully functional, unique spaces like City Hall and the Public Safety Complex. Milton is one-of-a-kind in its spirit, proud rural heritage, and strong community – and its government has strived to be the same.

And you can’t talk about Milton’s progress over its first 15 years without talking about Joe Lockwood. First voted in prior to the City’s incorporation, he has been re-elected three times since. He has earned a reputation as a listener, consensus builder, public servant, and leader who cares about Milton and puts citizens first. As such, Lockwood will be an important part of the festivities ahead of his departure from office early in January 2022.
