Cyclist Dies From Injuries Following Crash
Milton police have charged John Blankenship, 46, with vehicular homicide in the April 29 accident, which occurred on Freemanville Road.

One of two bicyclists injured when they were hit by the driver of a pickup truck in Milton has passed away.

Jason Young of Canton, 42, died over the weekend from injuries sustained in the fatal crash, Milton police said on Monday.
Jasper resident, 46-year-old John Blankenship, has been charged with reckless driving and homicide by vehicle in the crash, which occurred at 7:36 p.m. April 29 along Freemanville Road near Dartmouth Road in Milton.

According to investigators and information from the scene, Blankenship, the driver of a white 1993 Ford Ranger pickup truck, was traveling northbound on Freemanvile Road while five cyclists were traveling southbound on the same road.
In an attempt to pass another vehicle in front of him, Blankenship allegedly crossed over into the southbound lane and hit two of the five cyclists, police said.
The other cyclists crashed as a result of the accident. Two of the cyclists were transported to the hospital.
The remaining cyclists were treated and released at the scene. Blankenship was initially cited for improper passing at the scene.
Blankenship remains at the Fulton County Jail where he is waiting to be arraigned on the charges.
