ALPHARETTA, GA — This has been a busy week for Alpharetta Police dealing with speeders around the city, including a motorcycle driver who was arrested for driving 163 MPH on Ga. 400. Then on Wednesday night, another man was arrested for traveling 110 MPH down Westside Parkway, police say.

At 9 p.m., police saw a BMW speeding, which they estimated at 85 MPH, northbound on Westside Pkwy near Gardner Drive. The officer was unable to confirm the speed with his radar due to the angle of the roadway. The vehicle almost loss control as the driver was negotiating the curve, the police report said.

The officer caught up to the vehicle on Westside Pkwy at Haynes Bridge Road when the BMW stopped in the right lane at the red light. When the light turned green, the vehicle sped off again pulling away from the officer, the report said. The estimated speed of the vehicle was about 105 MPH.

Earlier this week, a 30-year-old man from Cumming was arrested early Sunday morning after he was caught traveling 163 MPH on his motorcycle along Ga. 400, Alpharetta police said.

The officer asked the driver if there was a reason for him going so fast, and he said he was "just out for a ride," according to the report. He said he knew he was going well over 100 MPH, but did not know he was going that fast. The driver also said that the bike was quick, and he just barely squeezed the throttle, the report said.

The man was arrested for speeding and reckless driving.

A second driver was arrested around 7 p.m. Saturday on Ga. 400 north for driving 112 MPH.
