Employee Beaten, Shoved Into Freezer During Armed Robbery: Police

The following information was obtained from an incident report released by the Milton Police Department.

MILTON, GA -- Detectives with the Milton Police Department continue to work the case of a sandwich shop employee who say he was attacked by a masked man during an armed robbery.

Officers were dispatched to a call of a robbery at Subway at 13020 Morris Road Suite F around 10:03 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27. Those cops arrived on the scene and met with an employee, who was able to provide a synopsis of what happened.

According to an incident report released by Milton police, the employee said he was washing dishes between 9:45 p.m. and 10 p.m. when the suspect entered the kitchen area.

The man, the report states, "jammed the barrel of a gun" into the victim's right rib cage area and told him to open the cash register.

The employee complied, and the suspect was given $170. Not satisfied, the masked man forced the employee to kneel down and open two safes located under the register. He was able to open one safe and hand over $250 in cash to the suspect, according to the report.

Wanting more money, the man in the mask demanded that the victim open the second safe. When the employee showed the suspect he was unable to open that safe, the man began beating the victim in the face, shoulder and arm, the officer wrote in the report.

After that attack, the suspect shoved the employee into a large, walk-in cooler before leaving the shop on foot, the report states.

The employee was able to free himself from the freezer and call his supervisor, who told him to call the police.

The employee said the suspect spoke in "broken English," and was wearing black or dark-colored clothing, a mask and gloves. He also noted the suspect could have been 6 feet, 2 inches tall, but could not provide a description of the firearm.

A search of the area around the Subway did not turn up anyone matching the employee's description, the report states.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Milton police at 678-297-6300.
