Equipment Damage Takes Emergency Weather Sirens Offline

The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety said the system will be offline for an undetermined period of time.

ALPHARETTA, GA — The emergency weather sirens for the cities of Alpharetta and Milton are offline due to damage to equipment, the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety said.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the damage, and the agency notes the system will be down for an "undetermined period of time." The process for repairing the system is also underway.

The community will be notified once the sirens are functional. In the meantime, Alpharetta and Milton residents are asked to register for the Smart911 system. Smart911 will be the primary notification method the cities will use for mass notifications when it's necessary.
