Establishing and Growing Perennials Workshop

ALPHARETTA HOSTS GARDENING CLASSES FOR HOMEOWNERS

Are you interested in improving your property but aren’t sure how to approach it?  Do you want to maintain your landscape better but don’t know when (and how) to do it?  The North Fulton Master Gardeners and the UGA Cooperative Extension in Fulton County are conducting a series of free classes for homeowners with each class covering a particular topic at the time of year that is best suited for that activity. Alpharetta classes are offered by the City of Alpharetta, Alpharetta Natural Resources Commission and the Alpharetta Garden Club.  They are held at the Alpharetta Engineering/Public Works Department, 1790 Hembree Road, Alpharetta, GA 30009 from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm.

Maintaining and Pruning Shrubs and Roses will be held on Wednesday, May 16th.  While many of your shrubs may have already flowered (and others, like roses, will bloom again), they all need to be prepared for Atlanta’s summer heat and possible lack of rain.  If they have grown too large for their location, they may need to be pruned at the right time and done the right way.  This class covers:

How are your shrubs doing?                                         Mulching

Weed control                                                               Watering
