The term “Gloria” denotes both the joyous second part of the Ordinary of the Roman Catholic Mass and also an independent work by that name. In either case it is an expression of almost indescribable religious joy, bringing to mind such terms as rapture, ecstasy and exhilaration. The Michael O’Neal Chamber Singers present a program featuring 20th Century French composer Francis Poulenc’s exuberant and jazzy Gloria, as well as many other choral declarations of joy and praise.
