Famous Acrobat Visits Rotary Club of Alpharetta

The Rotary Club of Alpharetta welcomed Nik Wallenda of The Flying Wallendas at its breakfast last week.

ALPHARETTA, GA — From The Rotary Club of Alpharetta: Acrobat, daredevil, high wire artist and holder of nine Guinness World Records, Nik Wallenda spoke last week at the Alpharetta Rotary Club breakfast. To say that Nik is fearless is an understatement. He is the first person to ever cross the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls on a high wire, and that’s just for starters. His exhaustive list of daredevil accomplishments easily earns him the nickname The King of the High Wire.

Nik is a seventh-generation member of The Flying Wallendas. His great-grandfather, Karl Wallenda, first gained notoriety in the U.S. in 1928 with the death defying four-man pyramid and cycling on the high wire. In July of 1970, the 65-year- old Karl Wallenda stunned over 30 thousand spectators as he performed two hand stands while high-wire crossing Tallulah Gorge in Georgia. Sadly, the elder Wallenda perished in 1978 while crossing between two hotels in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The Greatest Daredevil of our Generation, Nik Wallenda and the Fabulous Wallendas, are currently touring with The Big Apple Circus. Pictured below are Nik Wallenda and Scott Doll, President of the Alpharetta Rotary Club.
