“Coming from a unique downtown in Fort Collins that really valued community collaboration and small business, it was really important for me to find another downtown with similar qualities and values,” she continues. “I am looking forward to watching downtown Alpharetta become a vibrant and busy destination. It’s exciting to be in on the ground floor of this project, and to be a part of revitalizing the downtown.”

Perched

Perched, a family-owned boutique that began in Ball Ground, Georgia, is now open at 215 Market St. Owned by Amanda Topper, the store carries classy, feminine clothing and unique gifts, including decorative seasonal accessories. They also carry baby shower, wedding and birthday gifts as well as some clothing for girls.

Toppers says the name Perched came about after their 20-year-old cat passed away and a petite wild bird flew to the railing of their front porch and sat fearlessly. “My mom and I could walk right up to him and he wouldn’t move,” she says. “We knew this must be a sign that our beloved kitty was doing well wherever he may be, as everyday the bird would greet us and follow us around the yard. Eventually, he started to perch on the handle of our dog’s leash while we were holding it. He had so much trust around us. Anyone who has lost a loved one – whether a human or furry relative – knows that they will always be “perched” in our hearts.
