Ford and Destination Imagination Team Up to Inspire Students
Children/Families in Greater Atlanta Area are Invited to Reimagine the Future of Driving at May 6 Event
Ford Motor Company has partnered with Destination Imagination (DI), a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching students the creative process through hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics (STEAM) and social entrepreneurship challenges, on an exclusive event designed to engage kids in creative and innovative thinking.
The one-of-a-kind, “Try DI: Ford of the Future Challenge” will take place Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Fulton Science Academy, 3035 Fanfare Way, Alpharetta, GA 30009.
This event is open to the general public. Registration is limited to 500 guests; the first 100 to arrive will receive complimentary SWAG bags. All ages are welcome, from preschoolers to senior citizens. Thanks to Ford’s sponsorship, there is no fee to attend.

The task at hand is exciting! Try DI participants will be asked to reimagine the future of driving and work together to create a prototype of the new car components they would like to see in future cars. This challenge comes with a tool kit that is provided upon check in. Within a set time frame, participants will work together on self-appointed teams to use the materials given to them as they build their vehicle component prototypes. Kids who participate will also have the opportunity to present their big ideas to Innovation experts.

Fulton Science Academy’s Destination Imagination Faculty Advisor, Rebecca Millar, commented, “Destination Imagination is a leader in project-based learning. Its academic challenges are kid-driven and are designed to teach students skills to succeed in the future workforce, including creative and critical thinking, problem solving and project management. We love this program!”
The “Try DI” event premiered last summer at Destination Imagination’s global finals held in TN. More than 300 excited children participated. The May 6 event scheduled in Alpharetta is expected to draw similar, if not even larger, crowds.
Kenan Sener, Fulton Science Academy Principal, commented, “Our school is very honored to have a chance to host this dynamic event. Watching families work together, students work together, even strangers work together, is really amazing. Creativity on that day is off the charts! For families who are looking for a unique Saturday experience that doesn’t involve a screen and encourages collaboration, imagination, and a hefty dose of fun, then this is the event for you!
Concessions will be available and funds raised from the concession stand will support Fulton Science Academy’s DI program and those teams who are heading to globals this year. To make a donation to support FSA’s DI program, please log onto https://donate.fultonscienceacademy.org/di
