Former Alpharetta Mayor Named To GA Economic Development Board

Former Alpharetta mayor David Belle Isle has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

ALPHARETTA, GA — Gov. Brian P. Kemp recently held swearing-in ceremonies for 21 appointees to serve on the Board of Commissioners of the Sheriffs' Retirement Fund, Board of Corrections, Board of Economic Development, Georgia Council for the Arts, and the Savannah-Georgia Convention Center Authority Board.

Among them was David Belle Isle to the Board of Directors for the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

Belle Isle served as Mayor of Alpharetta from 2012 to 2018. He is a sixth generation Georgian and has been married to his wife, Candice, for over 20 years. They have two teenage children and reside in Alpharetta. A proud Georgia Bulldog, Belle Isle graduated from the University of Georgia in 1997 before attending Georgia State University, where he earned his law degree and master's in Business Administration. He opened his own law firm in 2007, Hipes & Belle Isle, which focuses on commercial and residential real estate transactions.

The Georgia Department of Economic Development is the state's sales and marketing arm, the lead agency for attracting new business investment, encouraging the expansion of existing industry and small businesses, aligning workforce education and training with in-demand jobs, locating new markets for Georgia products, attracting tourists to Georgia, and promoting the state as a destination for arts and location for film, music and digital entertainment projects, as well as planning and mobilizing state resources for economic development.
