Former Milton Mayor Lockwood Thanks Community
After former Mayor Joe Lockwood's term ended on Monday, he wrote a "statement of sincere thanks" to the community.

MILTON, GA — Joe Lockwood has ended his tenure as mayor of Milton, a role he's held since the city's incorporation in 2006. Before his job was done on Monday, he wrote a "statement of sincere thanks" to the community.
For the last 15 years, it has been my pleasure and honor to serve the people of Milton. While my time as Mayor has come to an end, the memories and relationships will stay with me forever.
I'm truly humbled to have gotten to know, and come to admire, so many of you. Milton is wonderful for many reasons. But it all starts with citizens, who love this city and want to make it the best that we can be.And Milton is the best, in my opinion. I am so proud of our city, and all that we've accomplished together.
I want to thank everyone for their involvement in making Milton what it is today, including those who served on the Council, our boards and committees, and in other ways. And I want to thank Milton's people, especially, for their endless contributions and for making our city so special.
Thank you all for letting me play a part in Milton's story.
Peyton Jamison who, after several years on the City Council, was recently elected to become Milton’s second-ever mayor.
