FULTON COUNTY, GA — Fulton County Commissioner Bob Ellis has announced his plans to seek re-election for the District 2 Seat.

Ellis is completing his sixth year of service on the commission, where he has "led the efforts for significant enhancements in customer service, infrastructure and facility improvements, and transparency in government," he said.

"A fierce advocate for property tax fairness, he led the fight for taxpayers in 2017 against unprecedented levels of assessment increases, a court fight which was resolved in taxpayers favor," Ellis said in a press release. "The legal outcome protected countless tax payers from having to endure an undue and unplanned financial burden. This fight also led to the enactment in 2018, of long-term protections for homeowners by placing a cap on the amount which a homeowner’s taxable assessed value can grow."

Ellis said he has focused much of his efforts on fiscal responsibility and restoring trust in government. As a result, the Board of Commissioners has reduced Fulton County’s millage rate during each year of his tenure, while still doubling its reserve requirements and enhancing services, he said.

He said he has been "a leader in fighting the opioid crisis and is a staunch advocate for improving the delivery and availability of mental health services throughout Fulton County. He pushed for an overhaul of the county’s behavioral health infrastructure which has resulted in twice as many citizens receiving much-needed services."

“It has been an honor to serve and be an advocate for efficient, effective, and service-oriented government on behalf of the citizens of Fulton County," Ellis said. "However, more work needs to be done, including working collaboratively with the state and our cities to reduce traffic congestion, improving our court system, enhancing senior services across the county, and addressing mental health issues which permeate our communities and judicial system. I look forward to continuing to serve and doing the hard work necessary to drive positive change.”

Fulton County District 2 encompasses Milton, Mountain Park, and large portions of Roswell, Alpharetta and Sandy Springs.
