FSA CHESS TEAM MAKES WAVES AT THE 2017 GEORGIA K-12 GRADE LEVELS TOURNAMENT
The Georgia Chess Association held its annual grade level scholastic tournament this past weekend on November 4th at Sutton Middle School. This tournament determined who is the champion for each grade level in the State of Georgia. Plaques and ribbons were given as prizes to the 9-12 graders, and trophies and ribbons were given to K-8. Each 1st place winner for each grade received a $100 stipend towards attendance to the 2017 National Scholastic K-12 Championship in Lake Buena Vista, Florida (December 8-10).
The format was a 4-round Swiss for the high schoolers (G45, d5) and a 5-round Swiss for K-8 (G25, d5). The tournament was a fun event with the kids playing football and blitz chess between the rounds and the parents and coaches socializing and playing some chess too.

Fulton Science Academy was well represented at the tournament! The following students participated: Vishal B. (11th), Tarun D. (3rd), Samhitha K. (3rd), Pranav D. (7th), Varun G. (3rd), Christopher G. (2nd), Kaitlyn J. (7th), Sydney J. (9th), Aarush K. (3rd), Lucas M. (3rd), Omer O. (2nd), Dheemant P. (4th), Kovid P. (2nd), Alexander R. (5th), Varsha S. (6th), Varun S.
