Georgia STEM Day Kicks off with a Bang at Alpharetta Private School
Fulton Science Academy Private School (FSAPS) kicked off Georgia's annual "STEM" Day with a bang!
Fulton Science Academy Private School (FSAPS) kicked off Georgia’s annual “STEM” Day with a bang as more than 600 students, parent volunteers, and guests came together to celebrate the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics through a variety of hands-on experiments.
Georgia STEM Day was created in 2012 by the Technology Association of Georgia and is an opportunity for schools, educators, students and companies to engage in activities involving science, technology, engineering and math. Because Fulton Science Academy is a STEAM school that also embraces the importance of the arts in its curriculum, several of the activities were cross curricular in nature and involved art.
Energy in the school’s gymnasium was contagious as representatives from the Georgia Tech Research Institute provided an interactive show (video clip attached) that involved fire, physics, flying objects, and more!

A total of 30 separate activities were meticulously planned by parent volunteer Alison Gurevich whose daughter is a high school student at FSA. Fulton Science Academy has 460 students who range in age from Pre-K through high school.
Students followed a detailed schedule, rotating between stations, many of which involved hands-on experiments and a ton of creativity. Sample activities included:
